What are the Caregiving Costs?
When choosing an independent caregiver, you are ensured that you will have someone screened and experienced. Since you know your loved one better than anyone, you must provide the caregiver and the client is a personality match. When selecting a caregiver or facility, it is essential to understand the costs.
In this video, I explain the importance of knowing the costs of 24-hour care and list some alternatives. If 24-hour care is not an option for a family, I help them understand all options:
- Independent Living,
- Assisted Living,
- RCFE,
- Memory Care, and the
- impact of family caregiving.
Let me know if we can chat? — Many of us are in denial regarding our loved one’s care needs. We have many more options when we don’t “need” to do something right now.
Here are the five signs I see in my business that result in people getting care.
1. Dementia and unbalanced – we often think of dementia as primarily being forgetful, but it also has a dangerous effect on balance. Being unstable results in falls and struggles to do routine activities of daily living.
2. Incontinence – many families are happy to help a family member until this becomes a problem.
3. Financial concerns – are there a bunch of bills or bank statements stacked on the counter? Are the bills being paid?
4. Dangerous Driver – Are they insisting on driving, but you would never drive with them? Do they have an unexplained dent on their car?
5. Frequent calls to the fire department or trips to the emergency room indicate they need help.
I can help find a caregiver or talk to you about the different senior living options. If you notice these signs, it is time to start taking action.
Give me a call and have a 20-minute over-the-phone assessment. I am also happy to come out and meet your loved one in person.
Regards,
David
